JMPD invites public transport operators to test roadworthiness of cars for free

MALANSHOF – JMPD Transportation Unit to conduct voluntary vehicle testing for public transport operators during October Transport Month

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department has invited the Public Transport Operators and drivers (bus, taxi, minibus and midibus) for free and voluntary vehicle testing from 7 to 9 October 2020 at Randburg Testing Station in Malanshof, Randburg.

The October Transport Month campaign is used to raise awareness on the important role of transport in the economy. As such, the law enforcement agencies are charged with the responsibility of promoting responsible road usage, freight, public passenger vehicle and driver fitness. Their mission is to ensure the safety of passengers by conveyance in vehicles that are roadworthy, reliable, safe and convenient.

They encourage operators and drivers to cooperate, comply and join hands with them in an attempt to curb fatalities and assist them in realising our goal of reducing or minimising fatal crashes and accidents due to cars which are not roadworthy in public passenger transport.

The tests of public transport are scheduled for a two-day period. They will be done from 7 to 8 October from 7.30am until 3pm.
