Randburg police arrest suspected housebreakers

FERNDALE – The suspects are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates' Court to face charges of possession of housebreaking implements.

Randburg police arrested two suspected burglars after stopping and searching their vehicle on 15 July.

Randburg police spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said during the late morning, sector policing members were on their routine duties when they spotted a suspicious vehicle with two occupants travelling on Hill Street in Ferndale. “The officers believed the vehicle to be suspicious and when approaching, the suspects drove off. The officers chased the vehicle until they stopped it at Malibongwe Drive,” said Maja.

When the suspects and their vehicle were searched, they discovered a collection of tools commonly used in housebreaking and gloves.”What was also discovered was an Ekhuruleni Emergency Services reflective jacket, which they failed to give proper reasons for possessing.” The two men aged 33 and 44 were arrested and investigation into the matter continues.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of possession of housebreaking implements.
