“Thank you for helping us keep the community warm,”says local NGO

KYA SAND – The centre asked Randburg residents and community to donate any winter clothing or blankets to keep the those without warm.

The Planning and Development (PND) Centre for Homework and Study was pleased that their donation drive was a roaring success.

The centre asked Randburg residents to donate any winter clothing or blankets to keep the community warm in the Randburg Sun article Local NGO needs Randburg’s help [Published online 24 June]. The non-profit organisation’s project manager and founder Judith Phiri told the Randburg Sun that she was eternally grateful for the overwhelming support from readers. “We got donations for men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, some of them were distributed weekly every Friday and a majority of them we distributed on Mandela Day,” Phiri said.

“We got clothing for 350 families spread over three weeks. The community really appreciated the assistance as the clothes were in good condition and were fitting for this harsh weather. Thank you again for helping us keep the community warm.” The centre has continued to meet the needs of members of the Pipeline Informal Settlement in any way they can thanks to the continued support from the community.
