One seriously injured and 4 moderately injured in North Riding collision

NORTH RIDING – The patient who was seriously injured was airlifted to the nearest hospital.

Paramedics from Emer-G-Med responded to a serious collision on the corner of Northumberland Avenue and Apollo Road in North Riding which left a total of five people injured on 29 July.

According to Emer-G-med, they received a call at around 4.15pm and when they arrived on the scene they saw that the accident involved two bakkies that had two passengers each. The bakkies collided at the robot causing one bakkie to overturn on the pavement, rolling onto a pedestrian. “We got so many witnesses on the scene, they said they tried removing the one pedestrian that is critically injured under the bakkie, with no success,” said Caitlinn Kruger, a member of the Emer-G-med team.

“We transported the four moderately injured patients to the nearest hospital while the one seriously injured patient required advanced life support so they were transported with a helicopter,” said Kruger.

All authorities were on the scene.
