6 643 hot meals for Mandela Day

This was all in remembering Madiba's legacy for Mandela Day, and this legacy lives on. His devotion to helping others and humanity is what inspired us to engage with this humanitarian cause," said Thembi Tshabalala of the Mshengu Foundation

The Mshengu Foundation made it their mission to feed 6 700 people in need for Mandela Day on 18 July, and they succeeded.

“This was all in remembering Madiba’s legacy for Mandela Day, and this legacy lives on. His devotion to helping others and humanity is what inspired us to engage with this humanitarian cause,” said Thembi Tshabalala of the Mshengu Foundation.

“In total, 6 643 meals were cooked and handed out to community members from Kya Sands to Sharpeville thanks to the generous donations of various sponsors.

“It was a very big day for us, and we were so happy that so many people came out to support our communities that are in need.

“For us as a foundation, every day is Mandela Day. We received so many donations that we can feed those in need daily, and we have so many people who we wish to thank that makes this all possible. Actions always speak louder than words,” she said.

The foundation would like to thank the BRM Company, Chefs With Compassion, The Angel Network, and CAN Together for their support and donations on the day.
