#MillionComforts campaign aims to raise 10-million sanitary pads

RANDBURG – The Dis-Chem Foundation has placed bins at 170 stores nationwide to facilitate donations from customers. Sanitary products may also be donated when purchased online.

Richard Mabaso, CEO of The Imbumba Foundation has challenged celebrities, ambassadors, as well as CEOs and executives of its biggest corporate partners to join him at a Dis-Chem store to fill up a trolley and purchase sanitary pads which will be donated to the #MillionComforts campaign.

Studies revealed that schoolgirls miss on average 50 days of school a year due to the lack of sanitary pads. For the past seven years, the Dis-Chem Foundation has continued to work with The Imbamba Foundation to help provide schoolgirls who do not have access to feminine hygiene products with sanitary pads. Sherry Saltzman, co-head of the Dis-Chem Foundation asserted, “We are extremely pleased to be running the #MultiComforts campaign again this year, especially during this time when people are experiencing additional financial difficulties due to the ripple effect brought on by Covid-19.

In recent years, we have topped 10 million units and we hope that South Africans will join us to contribute to this most worthy cause.”The Dis-Chem Foundation has partnered with several well-known sanitary protection brands such as Always, Comfitex, Kotex, Libress, Lil-lets and Stayfree, who have pledged to match donations made by Dis-Chem customers. Customers are encouraged to add their comfort and donate pads from these listed brands.

Sanitary products may also be donated when purchased online.”There is nothing more important than education, yet schoolgirls continue to miss valuable school days due to lack of proper sanitary protection. They are forced to use socks filled with sand, face cloths, small towels, grass and even plastic packets which are both ineffective and unhygienic,” said Richard Mabaso. “We are extremely passionate about this programme and encourage corporates as well as consumers to go to your nearest Dis-Chem store and donate to the #MillionComforts campaign.”Follow the collection drive with these hashtags: #keepingthegirlchildinschool #MillionComfortsRelate
