Scholar transport company feeds 45 Zandspruit families

ZANDSPRUIT – Have a Safe Trip had a heart-warming time cooking hot meals for 45 families in Zandspruit.

The team from scholar transport company, Have a Safe Trip, had a heart-warming time cooking hot meals for 45 families in Zandspruit on 14 June.

“I truly discovered my purpose in life about four weeks ago. My purpose is not only to transport kids safely to and from school, but to empower, encourage and uplift as many people’s lives as possible. I know that there are people out there that are struggling and battling, and if everything that I have learned from what I have been through in my own life can help just one person, then it is truly worth it,” said Have a Safe Trip’s Chet Goldsman.

Goldsman and his office manager spent the whole Sunday in the kitchen cooking in what started as a simple gesture to feed a few Zandspruit families to help during the Covid-19 crisis and the cold weekend.
He said that its success has now exploded into something truly promising, and a goal to continue this initiative regularly.

Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, the company’s revenue had to take a severe knock due to the closure of schools.
“We are truly blessed that our business is going be opening up again, and by the fact that I am warm, safe and have a roof over my head at this time. Feeling this blessing drove us to do something good in the community.
“Cooking for these families was the least I could do. To see the appreciation on the faces of these people was something remarkable, and you could see the smiles of appreciation through their masks.”
Goldsman teamed up with Zandspruit community leaders to help identify families in need to distribute the food on the day.

“With all the loyal customers that we have in scholar transport as well as schools in the area, we have created a great network to appeal for help with initiatives like this. Our goal is to get as many people as possible on board with this so that we can continue this initiative regularly. We want to go big with this.”

He requests that anyone who may wish to help out with the initiative is welcome to donate two or three non-perishable items and contact him to find out how they can get involved.
