On 12 May, the university launched its Covid-19 Screening Testing and Incident Management Flow Diagram to help staff and students to screen themselves before making their way to campus.

Staff and students are strongly encouraged to use the Covid-19 screening tool on a daily basis to monitor whether they are showing any Covid-19 symptoms.

The university has advised its staff and students to provide completed forms of their screenings to the security staff at the access gates of the campus upon every entry to its premises. Wits University acknowledged that a smartphone application would make this task easier but such an app has not yet been developed. The university reverted to this measure, which they saw as a fitting replacement, until such apps exist.

Those with symptoms listed in the screening test have been instructed to not to enter the university. Such staff or student should contact their nearest healthcare services to determine whether testing or self-quarantine will be necessary.

Those residing on campus are to remain in their rooms and seek advice telephonically from Campus Housing and Residence Life. Only once they have been cleared by the facilities will they be allowed to enter the university once more.
