Virgin City Fields delivers

RANDBURG – Farming duo delivers produce to your doorstep.

Daniel and Nicole Pires are the founders and owners of Virgin City Fields, an organic urban farm. Virgin City Fields (VCF) has been given certification to continue their operation, where customers are able to order produce to be delivered to their doorstep. The Randburg Sun first discovered the service after they posted on a local Facebook page that they were able to deliver in the area, as mandated by the government.

VCF began two years ago when the couple realised there was a shortage of organic produce and products in conventional stores.

“I decided to do some urban farming and started very small and today have over 200 products and work with other local farmers and brands as well, one of them being The Hamlet Foundation for the mentally disabled, they do hydroponic farming,” were the words of Daniel Pires.

VCF delivers organic fruit and vegetables, free-range grass-fed meat, free-range eggs, farm dairy, artisan breads and so much more weekly. Orders have increased significantly since the national lockdown.

“We are trying our best to serve everyone efficiently as a lot of people depend on our service during this time especially the elderly and ill.”

Since the lockdown began the pair has hired additional staff to help with the volume of orders which close at 8pm on Tuesdays and are delivered every Friday. This service, and others like it, are beneficial to reduce the curve of Covid-19 infections, as there is minimal contact between the consumer and others.
