Food Lover’s Market on board to help Ward 134 collection drive

RANDPARK RIDGE – Residents are encouraged to donate essential items.

Food Lover’s Market at Lifestyle Garden Centre is the first retailer to come on board with Ward 134 councillor Wendy Alexander’s donations drive to help those in need during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Alexander said that due to the lockdown, movement is very limited but people remain in need.

Residents are encouraged to donate essential items, and the donations will go to communities in need, like homeless shelters, child-headed households and the unemployed.

There is a need currently for the following items:

• Toiletries

• Toilet paper

• Face cloths

• Non-perishable foods

• Two large cooking pots

• Hotplates

• Electric kettles.

Alexander said that if you would like to donate while doing your essential shopping, you can simply drop off any donations at the dedicated drop-off point at Food Lover’s Market at the Lifestyle Garden Centre.

“I will continue to find the additional drop-off points for donations. I will also communicate them with the residents soonest.

“GP Security has very graciously made themselves available to transport these donations to Region C’s Social Services depot.”

The Randburg Sun has contacted Food Lover’s Market and is awaiting their comment.
