Covid 19: Apps to get you through the lockdown anxiety

JOHANNESBURG – Be part of the South African Anxiety and Depression Group (Sadag) Facebook Live to know more of ways you can take care of your mental health during the 21 days lockdown.


The South African Anxiety and Depression Group (Sadag) has launched a daily Facebook Expert Live Chat from 1pm to 2pm on weekdays, where psychologists answer questions and provide tips to the public on mental health.

On 7 April, founder of MySociaLife, Dean McCoubrey discussed the impact of social media during the national lockdown and how various apps could actually benefit mental health patients during this difficult time.

“The increasing amount of social media that we are all consuming during this time could be impacting our mental health. However, social media and various support tool apps could actually assist our mental health too with mindfulness, sleep, meditation, self-care, anxiety and stress release.”

He  suggested the following  apps:

“We have to at least learn about these support tools, which are globally popular and have delivered some powerful assistance to a generation that feels comfortable using technology,” concluded McCoubrey.
