Covid-19: City of Joburg appeals for donations

JOBURG – Companies with extra essential protective equipment such as sanitisers, medical gloves and masks, which they are no longer using, are urged to donate to the City.

The City of Johannesburg’s Covid-19 Disaster Management Centre team has requested individuals and companies to assist with donations, as it continues to coordinate efforts to stop the spread of Coronavirus in the City of Johannesburg.

Several teams that are on the forefront of curbing the virus throughout the City are hard at work, responding and treating the affected and suspected cases while educating members of the community about the importance of limiting social gatherings and respecting social distance principles.

Companies with extra essential protective equipment such as sanitisers, medical gloves and masks, which they are no longer using, are urged to donate to the City. These will be utilised by members of public safety, paramedics, firefighters and Metro police officers during this lockdown period.

The City has also invited people who own drones to lend them to the City for use during this lockdown period.

DA Joburg caucus leader, Leah Knott has confirmed that there will be food distribution in all Joburg regions for those in need. “The department is awaiting dates and details on the 235 points of distribution within Gauteng from Provincial Government,” she said.
