Randburg Licensing Department quick to respond

BLAIRGOWRIE – The Randburg Licensing Department was quick to heed the call of a concerned citizen.

The Randburg Licensing Department was quick to respond to a grievance which was reported a day before the national shutdown commenced.

Citizens who wished to renew their vehicle licences found themselves in a long queue, and when a citizen complained that there was no preference being given to the elderly, management was quick to respond.

A complainant who wished to remain anonymous told Randburg Sun that there was no preferential treatment being given to the elderly at the vehicle licensing department. She claimed that she had waited for over an hour to renew her vehicle licence and arrived after an elderly woman. Once she noticed the woman sitting under a tree, she felt it was her duty to report that the woman had not been helped for hours, despite her old age and the department closing at 1pm that day.

When Karlie Heidt of the Randburg Licensing Department was notified by Randburg Sun of the complaint, he explained that the system was unfortunately offline nationally, and subsequently sent one of the security guards on duty to seek the elderly woman. He was not able to find her as she had been allowed inside while she waited to be helped.

After Heidt’s quick response, he said a separate facility had been secured for the elderly, pregnant women and other citizens who were not able to queue for too long. The location awaited a computer as well as the correct infrastructure before being available for public use.
