Members of the Honeydew Police Station joined up with members of the Johannesburg District Police for the launch of Operation Okae Molao on 12 March.
The operation kicked off in the early morning at Northgate with a large number of officers from across the Johannesburg region ready for duty.
Honeydew Station Commander Brigadier Anesh Maharaj led the operation and briefed those on parade.
“The operation we will conduct today will take place mainly in Cosmo City. We will be focusing on shebeens, undocumented immigrants, firearms and finding suspects involved in house robberies. We will be stopping all taxis and conducting stop-and-searches, and there will be numerous roadblocks set up.
“We hope that it will be a successful and productive operation that will lead to many arrests,” he said.
Due to the numerous roadblocks, traffic was interrupted on both Malibongwe Drive, Beyers Naudé Drive, and various other intersections in the area on 12 March.
