Alleged Ferndale drug dealer brought down

RANDBURG – A 27-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of and dealing in a large variety of drugs.


A 27-year-old suspect is expected to appear soon in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court for the possession of and dealing in a large variety of drugs.

Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said members of the police’s K9 unit received information about a suspect allegedly dealing in drugs around the Randburg policing area on 9 January.

The officers operationalised the information provided and in the early morning of 10 January, they spotted the alleged suspect’s vehicle driving along Elgin Avenue in Ferndale.

“The suspect was stopped and upon searching him, he was found in possession of drugs that were identified to be 97 Zip-locked bags of dagga, six Zip-locked bags of cat, 10 envelopes of cocaine, 10 Zip-locked bags of crystal meth, 22 parcels of heroin and 11 cocaine rocks,” said Maja.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest.

The Station Commander of the Randburg Police Station Brigadier Michelle Jones applauded the police members for their tireless work.

She further urged the members of the public to keep on bringing information to the police as it helps to root out the drugs from our streets and bad elements in our society.

Maja added, “Information can be forwarded anonymously through the police crime stop line 08600 10111 or through the newly launched mobile app called MySAPS.”
