Elderly couple stabbed in Ferndale house robbery

FERNDALE – An elderly couple was left critically injured when they were allegedly attacked in their home in Ferndale.


A man and a woman, both in their 70s, were left critically injured when they were allegedly attacked in their home on Long Road in Ferndale on 27 January.

According to ER24’s Russel Meiring, paramedics arrived on the scene to find the elderly couple inside the home.

Medics assessed the patients and found that they had sustained numerous stab wound and were in a critical condition.

The patients were treated for their injuries and were provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to a nearby private hospital for further care.

“It is understood that an armed man had stormed into the home in the early hours of the morning,” said Meiring.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said that a case of house robbery has been registered at the station.

He added that a person was brought in for questioning regarding the incident and further investigation continues.
