Outa says ‘no to e-tolls’ on N1 highway
KELLAND – The Outa Bridge Brigade came out in their numbers to protest and voice their concern over e-tolls on 17 January.
During your daily commute on the N1 highway or Beyers Naude Drive, you may have spotted Outa members carrying giant banners which read ‘We will never pay e-tolls’ on the early morning of 17 January.
The Outa Bridge Brigade came out in their numbers waving flags and holding their picket signs high to protest and voice their concern over e-tolls, with many community members taking part in the cause.
The organisation’s head of marketing and communications Samantha van Nispen said, “Outa has a mobilisation team and one of the main activities that we partake in is our Bridge Brigades. They take to various bridges around Joburg and Pretoria, usually on a Monday or a Friday morning, to focus on protesting against and raising awareness about e-tolls.
“The gathering on Beyers Naude Drive this morning was quite a big one as not only did it protest against e-tolls, but it also served as a call to Eskom to sort out its troubles. The support we had was incredible.”
The organisation conducts mobilisations every Monday and Friday morning and encourages members of the public to take part.
Van Nispen added that the details of these events can be found on Outa’s Facebook page for members of the public who wish to find out more.
