Weather watch: SA Weather Service predicts severe thunderstorms for this afternoon

JOBURG – A watch has been put out by the South African Weather Service for the possibility of severe thunderstorms for the whole of Gauteng.


The South African Weather Service has predicted heavy and severe thunderstorms for Gauteng on Wednesday, 20 November.

The weather service tweeted that they expect the storm to begin from 5pm and continue into Thursday (21 November) in the early hours of the morning. Which can result in heavy downpours and localised flooding as well as strong winds.

The hot conditions continue, with highs reaching 30–31°C. The watch has been placed for the entire Gauteng province on the potential of severe thunderstorms.

Gauteng Weather released conditions favourable for the possibility of severe thunderstorms, they include the potential threat of small amounts of hail and damaging winds.
