Honeydew SAPS arrest armed robbery suspect

RANDPARK RIDGE – Armed robbery suspect in police custody after caught with stolen goods on the same day of the crime.


On 11 November a house robbery took place on Koorsboom Street in Randpark Ridge at approximately 11.15am. The owners of the house were out and had left their domestic worker at home with their 13-year-old daughter.

The armed robber climbed over the wall of the property and proceeded to rob the home of items to the value R25 000 after he threatened the domestic with a pocket knife.

The complainant went out to fetch washing from the line in the yard. She was grabbed at the door of the house by one black male with his knife. The suspect took her into the house and demanded cash. The daughter heard the noise from inside the house and messaged her father who alerted security. Security and police responded and arrested the suspect with the robbed clothes and shoes after they chased him down the street, after he had left the house. There were no shots or injuries.

The suspect was arrested by SAPS Relief A Echo Unit in connection with the house robbery. He was found in possession of the complainant’s property and was positively identified by the complainant with the knife used during the robbery also recovered.

Police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said, “Management of SAPS Honeydew thank these members for the efforts they’ve put in, in putting the crime levels down.”
