59 Arrested by Honeydew Police

HONEYDEW – The Honeydew police arrested 59 suspects in successful operations from 20 to 26 October.


The Honeydew police are praising officers’ efforts after the arrests of 59 suspects in successful operations in the Honeydew policing area from 20 to 26 October.

Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said the suspects were arrested for various crimes in and around the Honeydew policing precinct. “One of our biggest successes recently was the seizure of drugs to the value of R1.5 million and the arrest of the suspects for its possession,” Muthan said.

Other arrests include suspects who maliciously intended to damage City property, theft, house robbery, shoplifting, warrants for arrests, domestic violence, assault and drunken driving.

Muthan said that all suspects have or will appear in the Roodepoort or Randburg magistrates’ courts.

Station commander Brigadier Anesh Maharaj extended his word of thanks to all the police members who played a part in making the 59 arrests and encouraged them to continue the good work in keeping the crime rate down in the area.
