UPDATE: Estimated R200 000 worth of cellphones stolen after business robbery in Boskruin

BOSKRUIN – Honeydew police are on the hunt for five suspects who robbed a store at a Boskruin shopping centre.


Update, 19 October, 7.20pm

Diepsloot local police spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said at around 12pm this afternoon (19 October), five male suspects, one armed with a firearm, robbed a store in Boskruin, Randburg.

The statement read, “It’s alleged the suspects entered the store on false pretence of being customers, while they were in the store, one suspect pointed a firearm at the manager and instructed him to open the till.”

The suspects allegedly robbed an amount of R1 000 at the till and an undisclosed number of cellphones to the estimated value of R200 000.” They then fled the scene in a white Toyota double cab with registration PX 07 HZ GP,” Mathbula added.

The Honeydew police has opened a case of business robbery, police have pleaded with anyone with information to contact the Honeydew police on 011 801 8400 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111.

Initial report, 19 October, 5.30pm

The Randburg Police Station has confirmed that they are aware of a social media report of an armed robbery at a Boskruin Shopping Centre today, 19 October.

A shopper at the time of the robbery posted on a local Facebook group that they had witnessed an armed robbery at a stationery store.

Randburg police said they can not give out more details at this stage but will provide an update as soon as possible. This post will be updated once more details are provided.
