The school’s Heather Robinson explained how qualifying for the inter-schools competition took place. “The standard of racing in this competition is extremely high and schools qualify teams based on team performance in the provincial qualification events. Each rider is allocated points based on their finishing position in each race with the points being assigned to the school that they are registered with.”

Principal of Rand Park High School Alan Wilke said, “Rand Park High School’s cycling team is progressing from strength to strength and is currently ranked 10th on the South Gauteng Schools leader board.

“The school’s cycling team has a very committed group of learners who really enjoy the sport and I am proud of their achievements. We are very grateful to their parents and coaches have provided invaluable support to the riders both practically by providing the equipment needed but also through their involvement and encouragement to succeed in this youth sport.”
