Rand Park High School gets a new bus

RANDPARK RIDGE – The debutantes raised an amazing R1 million through fundraising to make the purchase of a new bus possible.

Rand Park High School debutantes celebrate their achievement of buying the school a new bus.

It’s big, it’s white and it has Rand Park High School written on its sides. After months of fundraising, the school is proud to announce that they have been able to purchase a new school bus. The debutantes thought of creative ways throughout the year to raise the money which exceeded a whopping R1 million.

The school’s communication officer Heather Robinson explained how the bus will be used to play a big role in getting the school’s learners to school every day and to other school-related activities. Robinson said, “This bus will be used every morning to collect learners who travel from Weltevreden Park as well as school tours. It will also be used to travel to various sports meetings easier whereas before the school had to hire buses, which tended to be quite expensive.”

Robinson explained how the debutantes collected R1 million. “This year, the girls had a phenomenal fundraising year. They do all sorts of fun projects to raise money, from selling baked goods, running a fête, various activities.”

Prior to the addition of the new bus, the school only had a bus that could accommodate a maximum of 24 people.

The school is extremely proud of the efforts of the girls and thanked them for this precious gift. “Getting this bus is something that could not have been bought without the girl’s hard work. The bus shows the hard work that the debutantes put in this year and we are grateful for it.”
