Trinitonian Palesa Mothopi takes to the international stage

RANDPARK RIDGE – Trinity grade 11 learner Palesa Mothopi returns victorious after representing South Africa at the New York Talent America competition.


Trinity house Grade 11 learner Palesa Mothopi made her way to the United States during the school holidays and represented South Africa on the international stage in the Talent America competition.

The performing arts team made their way to New York where they arrived on 24 June and spent the first two days of their stay engrossed in the tourist attractions. The team participated in a number of workshops which included an acting for film workshop at the New York Film Academy and a musical theatre workshop with the famous cast of Aladdin. The young stars were also coached by industry experts to prepare them for the Talent America competition.

In the competition, Palesa participated in four acting categories in the 15 to 17 age group. Her sensational performances placed her in the top five of her categories in which she placed first in the Commercial monologue and Cold Read sections as well as fourth in the Dramatic and Comedic monologue sections. The starlet also received two first-place trophies and two runner-up medals.

In September, Palesa will feature in the Talent Africa TV series which follows the journey of performers from the regionals all the way to Talent America.

Palesa arrived home safely together with the Talent Africa team on 3 July and was met by her parents who beamed with pride at their daughter’s achievements and thanked the school for its support.
