Spring into the new season with a weekend full of fun, friends, food and drink, dress-up competitions and even a few chances to win big!
The first-ever Funtasy Farmfest is coming to Riversands Farm Village on 31 August and 1 September, and you are invited to have some good old-fashioned farm fun. Attendees can enjoy a line-up of live music, earn bragging rights by participating in competitions taking place over the weekend, dress to impress and even take home a special prize if you come in the best cosplay. Everyone is welcome to come and have a blast on the farm.
“We would love to see people of all ages, colours and from all the corners of Gauteng in funky fare, wacky weird attire and perhaps a flamingo hat or two,” explained Leone Amon of Amon International, who is helping to organise the celebration. “So come kick back and cut loose.”
The dress code is all about having fun – cosplayers are welcome to show us what they’ve got, lampshades as hats will not be treated with scorn and even people dressed normally (or in their Sunday best) are welcome. You might want to think outside the box when it comes to your wardrobe though, as big outfits will win big prizes.
“We have spectacular prizes for all age groups – for best dressed aged five and under; aged 12 and under; teenagers; best-dressed male; best-dressed female and best couple,” explained Glenda Sixel of Gem Innovations and partner in Farmfest brand. “Our cosplayers will set the tone for the day. We are also doing quizzes so up your game on geek and superhero knowledge!”
