FERNDALE – Three artists unite to celebrate the essence of humanity at the Flesh an Bone exhibit in Ferndale.

The newly opened restaurant Tuc ‘n Tap was flooded with people who celebrated the arts on 27 June.

The restaurant hosted the Flesh and Bone exhibition which showcased the art of Ric Holt, Des Benjamin and Kariena Kolisko. The event was well-attended and included three performances from talented and professional ballet dancers respectively. The upstairs loft aesthetic complimented the evening which celebrated the arts.

Benjamin referred to Holt as the ‘common denominator’ who brought her and Kolisko together and formed the trio of artists. Holt wished to ‘represent the essence of humanity… the beauty of life itself’ in the works displayed at the Flesh and Bone exhibition. A percentage of the earnings at the exhibition went to the Joburg Ballet. Holt graciously thanked multiple people who had a hand in the inception of the exhibition, and was described as ‘the soul’ behind the evening by Kolisko.

CEO of Joburg Ballet Iain MacDonald complimented the three painters for their courage to share their art publicly before he expressed his hearty congratulations for ‘seeing the project through’ before the introduction of dancers who represented Joburg Ballet. The ballet dancers performed excerpts from their upcoming show Unbound.

Kolisko, who doubled as a ballet teacher, included four young dancers from her studio who performed a piece which coincided with one of her paintings.

All in all, the night succeeded to join the magic of art and humanity in a tangible form.
