Zaahid Shabodien is a future soccer star

BLAIRGOWRIE – Blairgowrie Primary School hosts civvies day to raise funds for Bill Stewart Tournament entrant Zaahid Shabodien.

A Blairgowrie Primary School U13 soccer player has been selected to participate in the Bill Stewart Tournament, a primary school soccer tournament scheduled from 25 to 30 June.

Out of all the U12 and U13 soccer players across Johannesburg, Zaahid Shabodien is in the top 45. The soccer star’s unbelievable achievement is one where the school would have to dig very far back in the record books to find a previous Blairgowrie player to have been selected.

The school is very proud of Shabodien’s accomplishments and hosted a special Soccer Civvies Day on 6 June to raise money to cover all the relevant costs. All proceeds from their civvies day have gone towards the exceptional young man’s tournament costs. The tournament will be held during the upcoming school holidays.

Learners were charged R5 to take part in the civvies day and the school welcomes further donations from community members who wish to contribute. Learners were encouraged to wear their favourite soccer teams’ jerseys, or sports’ teams kit. The school was able to raise R3 000 from the civvies day.

On the day, the school’s U13 team beat Risidale Primary School 5–1 and Zaahid scored all the goals.

The school can be contacted at: 011-782-5406 and emailed at info@blairgowrieprimary.org.za for further information.
