Man murdered in Cosmo

COSMO CITY – Police discovered the victim lying face down with a stab wound in his neck.

The Honeydew police attended to the scene of a murder on 12 May.

When police attended to the scene on Senegal Crescent at 6.30pm, they saw members of the public gathering around a severely injured victim. Police discovered the victim lying face down with a stab wound in his neck, and was declared dead on their arrival.

Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said, “Witnesses say that he was apparently stabbed by one of the men he lives with, and the suspect allegedly ran away after the incident.”

There was no murder weapon found at the scene. Muthan added, “Again, this relates to the ongoing issue when dealing with murders and house robberies in the Cosmo and Zandspruit areas, which are the ‘backrooms’ of properties and illegal shebeens.

“The issue of backrooms relates to where an individual gets an RDP house and builds multiple rooms at the back of the property for others to rent out, sometimes with no physical record of who is staying there. This makes things more efficient for criminals, and harder for us to solve crimes.

“We appeal to the public to come forward with any information they have pertaining to this crime.”
