On 10 May, learners at Acacia Schools joined the Slipper Day movement and ditched their usual ‘black shoes’ for a good cause.
The Reach for a Dream foundation runs a fundraiser where community members wear their slippers instead of their usual shoes in order to raise funds to impact positive change.
Learners from both the high school and preparatory legs of the school arrived at school, warm and snuggly in slippers of all shapes, colours, and varieties. Participants paid R10 in order to join in the fun and raise money for the non-profit organisation.
The initiative is run by the Reach for a Dream Foundation, which has been impacting positive change in the lives of children which have life-threatening illnesses and their families. It is a fun and simple way to raise funds for the charity organisation. The organisation is a visible agent of change having made 12 917 dreams come true according to their website on 13 May.
