Resident’s association dubs ward councillor its superhero

FERNDALE – Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood assisted in supplying a generator to alleviate a power issue in the area.

The Bryanfern Residents Association would like to extend a big word of thanks to Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood for his assistance in supplying a generator to alleviate a power issue in the area.

Residents in the area experienced an extended power outage that started at 3am on 25 April.

According to Wood, City Power had to replace a transformer at a nearby substation.

Wood, with the help of City Power, was able to organise a generator to generate power for the residents during the repairing interim on 29 April.

“City Power was battling to fix the problem. For years each time the wind blew, or it would rain, we would lose power, and the lightning and thunder was a nightmare, with power surges creating such damage,” said resident Lee Sale.

Wood said, “City Power really pulled out all the stops to get the transformer replaced. They worked right through the night. I really want to give a big word of thanks to all the guys at City Power, and it was a privilege to help this residents association.”

Sale added, “Our RA had Mike Wood contact us Saturday. Today we have a new generator, so we were so appreciative that we are calling him our very own ‘Clark Kent.'”
