Suspects in custody after roadside robbery

WINDSOR – The Linden Police arrested robbers on 22 April.

The Linden police are warning pedestrians to be vigilant after a robbery occurred on 22 April.

Linden Police Station spokesperson constable Takalani Matumba told the Randburg Sun that two victims were walking together on the corner of Judges Avenue and Republic Road when a white Fiat bakkie stopped next to them with two occupants to ask for directions.

“The complainant told the suspects that he did not know what he was talking about. It was then that the passenger from the car got out and threatened the victims with a firearm and demanded their cell phones and wallet. The complainants gave the suspects their valuables,” said Matumba.

According to the victims, the suspect drove away towards Windsor West.

Matumba said, “The complainant the saw the police nearby and reported the matter. The suspects went with the police in the direction the car went, and amazingly they found the car.”

The police searched the suspects and found with the victim’s goods.

“The suspects were arrested and detained at Linden Police Station. They will appear before the court on 23 April,” concluded Matumba.
