A thank you to the Randburg Licensing Department

BLAIRGOWRIE – Lynne Hughes praises officials at the department for their great work in unpleasant conditions.

Lynnette Hughes writes:

Recently, I escorted one of my fellow retired ladies to the Randburg Licensing Department to find out the correct process to follow in applying for a new driver’s license as we had heard many contradicting versions.

After standing in a queue for a while, we were attended to by one of two gentlemen in a most pleasant manner and documentation was handed to my friend. After completing the documents, she was shown to another department and I waited downstairs. The gentleman doing queue control fetched me a chair and invited me to sit.

During my wait of just under two hours, I was appalled and quite disgusted by the verbal abuse, rudeness and blatant disregard by some members of the public to these officials just carrying out their duties in unpleasant conditions. At no point, did any of the officials show any anger?

I believe these officials should be made mention of and make the public aware that they are there to help and serve. They cannot be held responsible for documents, licenses and appointments not scheduled.

The officials I would like to mention are Sipho Gumede, Direko David, and Lerefolo Paballo.
