BRYANBRINK – He was convicted at the Randburg Magistrate's court.

BRYANBRINK – A 30-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court for business break-in.

Captain Makgowanyana Maja of Randburg Police Station said on 20 April last year at about 4.30pm the complainant locked his business premises on the corner of Main and Culross roads in Bryanston, leaving everything in order.

“The next day on his way to work he received a phone call from the security company that there was a break-in at his business. On his arrival he found the security [company] and the police already on the scene,” said Maja. He added the complainant opened up the property and after a preliminary investigation it was established that valuables had been taken.

A docket was opened for further investigation and the matter was assigned to Detective Constable Musa Nyoni. The suspect was traced to Diepsloot where he was arrested. Upon questioning, the mother of the suspect handed over some stolen items to the police and the remaining items were traced to Soweto where the suspect had hidden them.

“The suspect went through the court process and was finally sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for business break-in with the intention to steal and theft which is wholly suspended for five years on condition that the accused is not convicted of other crimes,” said Maja.

He concluded that the management of the station thanks all who participated in the case for their patience and cooperation. “Working together as the police and the community, we can work towards creating a safer and secure environment for us all.”
