Counseling and support – for free

HONEYDEW – Linda Patterson, founder of Fisherman's Village urge people to come to her if all hope if lost.

HONEYDEW – Linda Patterson, started her own support group at her venue, Fisherman’s Village. This is a place where anyone can turn to when they are in need of spiritual or psychological help.

When you are mourning, broken, or just want to find your way back to Christ, Patterson’s Fisherman’s Village is the place to visit. Patterson provides accommodation and meals for free when her courses are in full effect. Her courses occur every second weekend from Friday up until Sunday

She has been running these ‘courses’ for 12 years now. She is very thankful to keep this place running every month. Patterson has admitted that it is, in fact, difficult to keep the place open. “It’s by the grace of God that we can keep this place running every month. Every month we don’t even know how we are going to pay our workers but somehow we do. We do get donations but not a lot and it’s not recurring donations.”

Patterson is an ordained pastor and has counselled many people for years with different types of problems. Her courses are focused on bringing the people that undertake her courses closer to God.

She said, “We are not a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts and alcoholics. We are not a shelter for the destitute. We are not a Christian conference centre for hire, but we are a place that you can come to for healing and counselling.” Everything that Patterson does is free of charge and for the glory of the Lord.

Patterson has been invited to various places to give her support and counselling to others in need. “This place is packed with hundreds of people. Most occasions we had to provide the people with mattresses on the floor to sleep on.”
