Kensington B swimming pool is beautiful once again

KENSINGTON B – The Kensington B public swimming pool has been newly renovated.

KENSINGTON B – Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood has applauded the work done by the KenBrink Residents Association and Joburg City Parks and Zoo’s aquatics department renovating the Kensington B public swimming pool.

Wood said, “Both the residents association and the City have worked well together to help bring this public area to life once again to be utilised by the community surrounding it in a safe and pleasant way.”

KenBrink Residents Association has been working with the City over the past few months to beautify the pool and the surrounding area to make it safer and more appealing.

The pool is not only used by the public, but by the various schools in the area for their swimming lessons.

The residents association’s Andrew Shaw said, “We have done a lot of work at the pool with the help of the City. The work that we did involved painting the equipment around the pool area and we supplied paint for the staff as well.

“We also helped clean and tidy up the area, and there is still some more work to be done.”

Some of the cleaning work included removing graffiti, pressure washing the outside walls, refurbishing changing rooms and ablution facilities, varnishing wood, sorting out electrical faults and plumbing, security, and replacing and adding lights.

Shaw said, “The work happening at the park and swimming pool is part of our long term vision for the residents association to improve the area, and we have to give a big thank you to our ward councillor and the City’s aquatics staff, who have been excellent in their upgrades, and we are happy with the success and progress.”
