Bring your baby’s nursery to life

RANDPARK RIDGE – Local new mom Sian Cullingworth gives out helpful tips to help you you create a great nursery for your baby.

RANDPARK RIDGE – So, your a first-time mom who is planning on giving their newborn a nursery that is both functional and practical with a touch of heaven to it.

To inspire you, local new mom Sian Cullingworth shares her favourite children’s décor trends set to feature at Decorex Durban. The Randpark Ridge resident said a gorgeous selection of some locally-designed furniture and décor items will form the vibrant new feature, The Playroom Children’s Décor Project at this year’s event.

On becoming a first-time mom, she said it has been a completely life-changing experience and, in between all the nappy changes, feeds and sleeps, she came to truly appreciate the soothing space of their nursery. “The colour and design of a room have such an incredible impact on the mood of the individual, and for an infant that is experiencing everything for the first time – and for the new parents as well – it’s really important to choose calming elements that speak to you as a family.”

Cullingworth explained that when it comes to decorating, it’s important to always choose what works for you personally, “There are so many trends out there that sometimes it becomes overwhelming to decide on what to choose and how to execute.”

So she decided on a colour palette first, and then it started coming together. “Once you have the furniture style and colour you love, start adding in one or two trends that complement your style. It’s important that it becomes a special place that feels comfortable and calming.”
