[VIDEO] A robbery in peak-hour traffic on Malibongwe Drive caught on camera

RANDBURG – Two male suspects are seen robbing a motorist on Malibongwe Drive and Oxford Street on 26 February.


Cell phone footage showing two male suspects robbing a motorist on the corner of Malibongwe Drive and Oxford Street during peak hour traffic has gone viral. 

The incident occurred on 26 February just after 8am, the witness who recorded the robbery could be heard saying, ”There is a robbery right in front of us, why aren’t people getting out to help?”

In the video you can see two male suspects forcing themselves into the driver’s window, assaulting the victim and then the video stops.

Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanya Maja said, “The victim did not come to open a case at the station, we are not aware of the incident. ”

Maja said it was the first time he has heard of it and that in some incidences a victim can open a case at a different station, in that instance, the case should be transferred.

Honeydew Police Station spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan said the station was informed of the incident, “The matter is being investigated by the Trio Task Team.”

Muthan said, “The area where it happened falls under Randburg, the case will be taken to Randburg police. ”

He added at present it is unknown what was taken from the victim.

Motorist are advised to remain vigilant at all times.
