One person killed, three injured in Northriding collision

NORTHRIDING – The collision took place at the intersection of Malibongwe Drive and Kapital Road in Northriding.

One woman was killed and three others injured in a collision between two light motor vehicles at around 2.30pm on Saturday, 23 February, in Northriding.

When ER24’s paramedics arrived at the scene, they closely inspected everyone involved and found that an elderly woman, believed to be in her sixties, was among those injured in the collision. The elderly woman was lying close to one of the vehicles.

According to a statement issued by ER24’s communication officer, Russel Meiring, an elderly man and two children, believed to be aged between five and seven, were found seated near the vehicle.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that the elderly woman had already succumbed to her injuries. Nothing could be done for her and she was declared dead,” said Meiring.

He also stated that the three other patients were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. They were treated and thereafter transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
