Mphoentle Mokhele’s star shines bright

NORTHRIDING- How Mphoentle got to where she is now

Mphoentle Mokhele is a teenager who lives in North Riding and is destined for great heights.

Mphoentle was selected as one of the Miss Regal South Africa International Teen 2019 finalists at the Michalengo Towers in November last year.

Mphoentle has been shining from the age of nine when she joined the Johannesburg Gymnastics Club based in Newlands, Randburg. In 2014, she was selected as one of the gymnasts to represent the club and South Africa at the 2014 USA Gymnastics World Championships held in Atlanta, Florida. Since then her confidence has been boosted having competed on an international stage with some of the best gymnasts.

In 2016 and 2017, she achieved provincial and national colours in rhythmic gymnastics and was crowned 2016 Provincial Champion and 2017 National Champion in rhythmic gymnastics. She is a member of the Prima Rhythmic Gymnastics Club and Central Gauteng Gymnastics Association.

Fast forward to 2018, the Miss Regal South Africa International came to her by chance. “I was coming from Cradlestone with my mom where I was auditioning for a modelling agency,” she said.

“After the audition, my friend’s mom said we should meet in Sandton. It was on this day when I was spotted and asked to register for the pageant.”

She’s looking forward to an enriching and enlightening journey. The pageant is associated with Powa (People opposing women abuse), an organisation that fights for the rights of abused women and children. She has taken her role as a finalist head on and has started to advise and speak on children’s right to safety.

“As a teenager that spends some of my holidays at the township, Khuma in Matlosana to be precise, I have witnessed teenagers that need guidance and a teenage role model to look up to. I see myself as this person, however not limiting myself to the area.

“Our schools also need positive peers, and I pledge to be one of those people that other teenagers can come to in situations where they require advice and assistance in social issues or school matters.”

Mphoentle is a modern, intelligent and beautiful young woman, inside out.

The finale of Miss Regal South Africa International Teen 2019 will take place on 2 March this year.
