The Ann Harding Cheshire Home is delighted to announce that they finally have the capacity to build a long-awaited coffee shop alongside their charity shop thanks to a generous donation.
The home’s Jackie Kyle said,
“This has been a dream for a long time, and thanks to a donation, is finally coming to fruition.”
The aims of the coffee shop are to attract more people to the home and the charity shop, to provide a relaxed space for their residents to entertain friends and family, to increase the income of the shop, and to provide a lovely relaxed coffee shop in the heart of Northwold for the community.
Kyle said, “We are also looking at the possibility of employing some of our residents in the coffee shop.
“Another idea we want to introduce is the ‘suspended coffee’ culture. This is where you pay for a coffee, and it becomes suspended until somebody who cannot afford one, claims it. This coffee shop is an important part of our plans towards making the home more self-sustainable.”
The money received in the donation was enough to build the structure, but the home now needs funds to furnish and equip the coffee shop.
Kyle added, “We realise that in these difficult economic times, we cannot rely only on donations, and we need to have more social enterprises,
“We have received a quote from Patio Warehouse for tables and chairs to furnish the coffee shop, with a 10 per cent discount from them. The amount we need to raise is R55 440. The tables and chairs we have chosen are for outdoor use and are extremely hard wearing. A lot of the other items will be sourced from donations to the shop.
“If you are able to support us with a donation towards this amount, we would be most grateful.”
