Curro Aurora’s cheerleading team is destined for greatness in the USA

SUNDOWNER – Cheerleaders at Curro surpass their expectations and goes big.

SUNDOWNER – Curro Aurora’s cheerleading team has been invited to participate in the World School Cheerleading Championship in Disney World Florida next month.

Many of the young athletes’ journeys began four years ago when they got involved in the school’s sports development programme. One of the requirements to receive an invitation to the championships was that the team needed to be awarded top three in the country at the South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association (SAMCA), National Championship that was hosted in Oudtshoorn last year.

The team from Curro Aurora did exceptionally well – they came second in the small co-ed division and first in the small all-girls division.

Curro Aurora will be taking part in the International Youth Recreational division at the World Championship. They will be guided by Qwanita Burger, who is a staff member and coach who has been involved in the sport for over 20 years. Levi Martin who has coached various primary, high and tertiary teams to numerous national titles and who is currently the South Africa National co-ed team captain, will also accompany the team.
