Lost and found – collect your ID

RANDBURG – The Department of Home Affairs is concerned about the amount of IDs pilling up in their offices.

RANDBURG – Mayor Herman Mashaba and Minister of Home Affairs, Siyabonga Cwele, addressed residents at the Department of Home Affairs Randburg District Office regarding their uncollected IDs that are piling up at the offices.

Cwele said that one of the main concerns they currently are facing, and one of the reasons he and the mayor met up, was the number of piled up ID’s that are laying around in the department’s offices.

“We produce quite a number of smart cards, therefore we ask all the citizens to please come and collect your ID’s. We send SMS’s out to the people but we are not sure if the messages are reaching all of you. If you have applied for an ID and waited more than two weeks, please come to the office and collect your ID,” said Cwele.

Mashaba and Cwele agreed that, as a municipality, they will help assist Home Affairs to spread the message to citizens who have not yet collected their ID’s to come and collect them.

Cwele added, “Unfortunately, they have to come to the Home Affairs offices because you have to insert your biometrics to get your card.”

If you have applied for an ID smart card, make sure to go to your nearest Home Affairs office to collect it.
