167 suspects arrested on the weekend
RANDBURG – A total of 167 suspects were arrested over the weekend.
A total of 167 suspects were arrested during the intensified weekend operations that were held by the men and women in blue of the Johannesburg West Cluster police.
The suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from murder, housebreaking and theft, common robbery, theft, house robbery, possession of suspected drugs, possession of stolen motor vehicle and hijacking.
Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said, “Out of the total number of arrests, 52 drunk drivers were arrested through the multi-disciplinary roadblocks.”
Police stations in the Johannesburg West Cluster include Randburg, Linden, Douglasdale and Honeydew.
All suspects are expected to appear in the different magistrates’ courts on 14 January after being formally charged.
