Hard work pays off

KENSINGTON B – One of Ferndale High School's 2018 matrics has obtained a bursary at VAT IT.

A learner from Ferndale High School has been awarded a bursary after all her hard work and effort she put in during her matric year.

Farhana Rahaman has received a bursary from a company called VAT IT. She will be working there as a project assistant while the company pays for her studies, BCom Law, which she’ll be doing through Unisa.

Farhana confessed that she has never been a top achiever before but during her first term she came in eighth place and during her second term she surprised herself and came in first.

“I just put my head down and worked hard this year and it paid off,” she said.

Farhana mentioned that her struggles for the year was all the pressure but their matric dance made up for it. “We all worked together and pushed one another, we made it a year to remember. Our teachers supported us through all of it. Our principle, along with the teachers, gave us extra lessons after school and sat with us till late in the evenings,” a proud Farhana concluded.
