68 Christmas boxes to make the elderly merry

BLAIRGOWRIE – Caxton Local Newspapers Joburg North believes there is no better time than the present to show appreciation to those around you.

They say good things come in small packages, but Caxton Local Newspapers Joburg North believes that big things can come in small packages, too.

So, they rallied the troops to ensure that this year they made Christmas all the more special for the elderly in our community. The company managed to collect an awesome 68 Christmas boxes packed full of goodies the elderly can enjoy and use.

They delivered these Christmas boxes to a local organisation, One Small Act of Kindness who had put the plea out for Christmas box donations through social media.

Caxton Newspapers took part in the initiative because they saw it important to do something for those in our community who are in need. A member of One Small of Kindness, Kelly-Ann van der Meer gave a heartfelt thank you to all who contributed to the initiative. “In our first year we aimed to have 40 boxes and we landed up with about 600, our second year we ended up with 700 and this year we set the bar really high at 1 000 boxes and now we are currently sitting at 1 014,” she said.

She added they still have a few more boxes trickling in and they envisaged they will end up with about 1 100 boxes. Van der Meer thanked the community at large for their great support and said without them, this success would not have happened.
