Northgate Shopping centre is on a mission to plant trees

NORTH RIDING – Growing the future

Northgate Shopping Centre planted two wild olive trees at North Riding College’s new building on 28 November.

The Grade 7 and 8 learners were involved in the tree planting, which was done with big smiles, lots of laughter and enthusiasm.

Boards were installed beside each tree, with quotes from the school and one reads: Consider a Tree for a Moment.

“As beautiful as trees are to look at, we don’t see what goes on underneath as they grow roots. Trees must develop deep roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty, but we don’t see the roots. We just see and enjoy the beauty. In much the same way, what goes on inside of us is like the roots of a tree,” said Joyce Meyer, American author, charismatic Christian and speaker.

“In a forest of a 100 000 trees, no two leaves are alike and no two journeys along the same path are alike,” said Paulo Coelho, Brazilian lyricist and novelist.

Northgate Shopping Centre will be planting trees at six community schools.
