The Randburg police are celebrating a weekend of successes after 10 suspects were arrested for various serious crimes in the policing precinct.
Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said, “On the weekend, Operation Buya Mthetho kicked in, where members of the South African Police Service and other law enforcement agencies were involved.”
Operation Buya Mthetho is a new multi-departmental operation aimed at enforcing by-laws and bringing back the rule of law to the City of Johannesburg.
According to Maja, the successes achieved over the weekend are the arrest of five suspects for assault with intent to do grievously body harm, one for robbery with other weapons other than a firearm or knife, one for theft, one for fraud, one for malicious damage to property and one for contravention of protection order.
All suspects are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
