The Animation School launches a new campus in Craighall

CRAIGHALL – The school celebrated their new campus and showed off their top students' talent.

The Animation School relaunched their Johannesburg campus on 14 November as they have just moved to the new premises on 110 Conrad Drive.

The Animation School was launched in 2000 and quickly established itself as the leading specialist animation training institution in South Africa.

 

The Animation School staff: Alex Gilfillan, Lorraine Davidovics, Nuno Martins, Jono Naidoo, Hercules Mare, Bronwyn Horne before they cut the red ribbon for their new Craighall premises.

The school offers a three-year full-time animation diploma in its two campuses, one of which is situated in Cape Town.

Basetsana Mabusela, marketing and student recruitment at the school said, “Our students consistently win top honours at various award ceremonies and the graduates at The Animation School have been employed by leading studios.”

 

The Animation School has received awards, one of them being: Top International Animation Schools for the years 2015, 2017 and 2018.

 

To date, The Animation School has received over 85 international and national awards such as the South African Film and Television Award (Safta) for best student film this year.

The school is renowned for ranking in the Top 100 International Animation Schools by the Animation Career Review – ranking at its best at number 18 in 2017.

Mabusela said, “The Animation School takes pride in training graduates like Conrad Murray, who represented South Africa in his astonishing work as a CG animator in a US miniseries that won an Academy Award for best visual effects.”

At the new premises, parents and student belonging to the school were invited to come and experience the hard work put in for it to be ranked so highly in the animation education level.

Their classrooms were open for viewing and there was a special exhibition showcasing the student’s talent.

Snacks and drinks were served before the schools’ principal, Nuno Martins gave a speech thanking everybody involved in the process and cutting the red ribbon to celebrate the opening of their new premises.
