I also accept bird food, tick and flea products etc. I am also grateful for gifts for children and adults – there is so much suffering all over.
Friends, I received all your deep concerns, but we need to help those who are helpless. Yes, all must be resolved urgently and I agree, everything takes too long – but all has to be done humanely. I had meetings on the closed Kya Sand landfill site, yes, the golf academy must happen – don’t shake your head in disbelief, rather pray and be of good cheer – let us stand together!
Have you ever seen the chickens alive for sale from the batteries? Too terrible for words. Mahatma Gandhi states that the greatness and moral progress must be measured by the way animals are treated. Informal settlements are a totally inhumane environment for all feeling beings, so say the scientists.
I can see it every day. The Broadacres Super Spar is setting an example by helping those in need. Pat Tarr, the owner, has done it for a long time. When I moved to Bloubosrand I shopped at the Jukskei Park Spar run by Pat and Ian Tarr. I told them that we are the first totally integrated rainbow suburb with masses of children who I would love to invite for a party. Guess what? They supplied lots of platters with snacks and cooldrinks – I had over 100 children and some adults. We danced and talked a lot about being kind and merciful to all of God’s creation!
You asked me about the Government’s protection of animals. Yes, we have the Animal Protection Act 1962 which you can obtain from the station commander’s computer at the Douglasdale Police Station – I obtained my copy years ago from the NSPCA. Is it implemented anywhere? Good Question!
There are more people around who are totally outstanding, such as Karen Loots. She is incredibly kind and helpful and is also the heart and soul of our monthly Squatter Animal Clinic at Kya Sand Pipe Line Informal Settlement, close to Mswawawa and all squatter animals are welcome to get help. She needs help with medication and volunteers. Dr Clare Speedy is also an example to all, totally compassionate and generous with all animals and people – wow!
