Four elements delight the audience of Curro Aurora

SUNDOWNER – Youngsters gained confidence in a showcase of the four elements at Curro Aurora.

Curro Aurora showcased the four elements for the youngsters with their show called The Elementrix on 19 October.

A gala evening was held for parents and other guests in The Elementrix mass production, with the entire intermediate phase of Grade 4 to Grade 7 learners taking part.

The school’s HoD of culture Dane Gabin said, “Everyone took part in singing and dancing on stage with only a few assisting backstage.”

The various grades each represented a different element, with Grade 4s representing wind, Grade 5s representing earth, Grade 6s representing fire, and Grade 7s representing water.

The learners practised for the production since the beginning of the year so that the preparations do not interfere with their academic work.

Gabin continued, “All of the songs, dances, costumes, lighting and design showcased today are relating to the various elements.

“As most of the kids are not stage performers, it was a bit scary for them at first. So we started off by overcoming their fears and building their confidence, and when they came onto the stage, the confidence instilled in them was remarkable.”

Curro Aurora Primary School principal Christiaan Maree added, “Drama is a great way to teach learners many things, especially when it comes to creating awareness about pollution and appreciating the earth that we live on.

“I’m so proud of the over 500 learners that participated in the show today, especially those that learned the confidence to go on stage after being a bit shy at first.”
